Definition and Usage

The fileperms() function returns the permissions for a file or directory.

This function returns the permission as a number on success or FALSE on failure.

Syntax

fileperms(filename)

Parameter Description
filename Required. Specifies the file to check


Tips and Notes

Note: The result of this function are cached. Use clearstatcache() to clear the cache.


Example 1

echo fileperms("test.txt");
?> 

The output of the code above could be:

33206


Example 2

Display permissions as an octal value:

echo substr(sprintf("%o",fileperms("test.txt")),-4);
?> 

The output of the code above could be:

1777
